The Fishery
About this Fishery
The lake’s main body covers approximately 45 acres, offering a varied mix of open water, sheltered bays, islands, narrow channels and projecting spits of land. To the north connected by a large pipe lies a further 13 acres of much wilder water, characterised by dense snags, overgrown margins, winding fingers, secluded bays and numerous islands. Throughout the lake, raised gravel bars, deeper channels, silty patches and reed-lined margins create a wide range of features and countless opportunities for anglers to explore. The lake holds an impressive stock of specimen carp, with fish reaching weights of up to 50lb. Over time, some of the original well-known residents have naturally come to the end of their lives. However, a carefully planned stocking programme carried out over the past decade has introduced the next generation of Met carp. These younger fish are now developing well, with several already reaching the mid to upper 30lb range.
